The Company wants to extend the reach of our products to new markets through partnerships that deliver sustained and substantial value for our business. We currently partner with leading global companies such as Verizon Wireless, Panasonic, Nokia, Google, 3 UK, Sony and Phillips. You will be aligned to one of the divisions – Mobile, Platform, Consumer or Business. The Partner Engineer will be responsible for engaging with the partner on a technical level and scoping out the partner requirements and then act as single point of contact for technical support.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Support the Partnership Strategy Development and the design of standard deal templates and guidelines
- Provide technical insights (e.g. core constraints and assets) into the development of the overall BU Partner strategy – comprising the target Partners, the desired partnerships, and the targeted business results of those partnerships
- Provide the technical inputs into standard, repeatable templates that drive internal best practice
- Define technical success criteria for partnerships.
2. Qualifying the Opportunity with a Partner, confirming feasibility, getting to Letter of Intent and getting to Contract
In qualifying the opportunity, you will be accountable for:
- Able to understand and capture partner technical requirements, leverage product knowledge and translate the requirements into a partner solution. Confirming feasibility of the partner technical solutions and plans.
- Providing technical support to external partners developing solutions based for the Company’s technology. Helping the Partner understand the capabilities and limitations of the Company’s technology.
- Helping estimate the workload and participate in architectural discussions with partners
- Identifying the implications for the Product units. Contributing to the design and evolution of the Company’s SDK products
- Conducting the initial estimations and feasibility assessments for technical requirements
- Helping confirm product capabilities/release plans or alignment of product managers to any incremental product requirements
In confirming feasibility, getting to Letter of Intent and Contract, you will be accountable for:
- Deepening and finalizing all the above – technical requirements, technical feasibility and requirements for Product.
- Additionally for working with Partner Program Management for detailed implementation planning, Partner Management for overall Partner plans and Product for product release plans and commitments.
3. Getting to Launch with a Partner
You will be accountable for:
- Providing technical support to ensure that issues are resolved and solutions found as Partner activities move towards implementation and launch.
- Working with the partner to launch and execute technical plans.
4. Managing and Growing the Partnership
You will accountable for:
- Managing the day-to-day technical relationship
- Managing the partnership to realize the targeted technical outcomes and solutions
- Reporting on the status of the relationship, to the Head of Partner Management, via him/her to the GM and to Corporate
5. Partnership Management
You will responsible for the technical performance and solutions of that Partnership (though ultimate accountability will be with the Partner Manager, Product organization and the GM).
Pre-requisite Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
1. Technical & Architecture Skills and Deep Product Knowledge
- Have strong technical and architectural skills
- Bring deep knowledge of products and technologies
- Have strong problem-solving capabilities
- Have the ability to communicate complex and technical issues and requirements to both the Partner and to Product
- Strong C/C++ development experience is a requirement. You must feel comfortable writing solid code and also reading and understanding the code written by others.
- Knowledge of modern software design and development practices and patterns is a requirement, with a focus on C++
- Providing architectural contributions and analytical skills are required
- Proven experience of delivering your code according to project deadlines and your own estimates
- Previous experience developing embedded consumer electronics or mobile and their corresponding application UIs is a major benefit.
- Mandarin, Korean, or Japanese would be valuable assets.
2. At least 5 years technical experience with 2+ years experience in Relevant Fields to Partner Integration Engineering
- 5+ year previous development expertise and general competence in embedded or mobile system design, optimization, and porting
- Ideally at least 3 years in relevant field to Partner Integration Engineering; relevant fields include product development/development lead/architecture/PEM roles
- Experience working with external partners on software systems integration
- Previous work experience with large consumer electronics or mobile equipment manufacturers (the target Partner environment) is a plus
3. Previous experience of providing technical support for large complex accounts would be a strong plus as that is the target for Partner Integration Engineers.
4. Strong and Positive Team Player and Service Mindset:
- Strong multi-tasking skills and experience in managing/working with virtual teams in a geographical dispersed organization.
- Excellent project management/co-ordination experience, with the ability to lead and handle multiple time-sensitive, cross-functional activities
- A service mindset to represent the broader interests of the Company, particularly Product plans and strategies
5. Comfortable dealing with Ambiguity:
- Ability to break down problems step by step and crystallize practical options in an uncertain context
- Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced environment with high degree of complexity and change.
- Ability to prioritize and focus effort in opportunities that have a high probability of success and best help reach business objectives.
- Ability to generate new ideas, spot possibilities and explore the areas where others haven’t gone.

- Technically relevant Degree, essential.
